A new survey conducted by Standard Life has revealed that 23% of people intend on leaving money to charity when they pass away. Amongst those questioned, 40% of people aged 18-24 expressed a desire to give away part of their estate, compared to 18% of people aged 35-44 and 17% of people aged 45-54. The remaining 25% of those who planned to make a donation were aged over 65.
The research also highlighted the link between volunteering and legacy donations, as 35% of those who volunteered their time also intended to leave a legacy, compared with only 20% of people who did not volunteer.
