The Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) have embarked on a new campaign to give emerging donors the knowledge and tools they need to develop thoughtful giving plans. The initiative, which is particularly focused on Europe and Asia, has been financed by a significant £2.4m ($3.7m) grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The campaign is in part a response to the increasing demand for effective philanthropy with potential donors struggling to identify the most effective ways to give. This is a three year initiative that includes the production of over 20 guides (available for free download on a new donor resources section of the RPA website), which will span the key issues that donors face when considering a serious philanthropic programme. This will include amongst others: giving motivations and interest areas, approaches and strategies, family roles and personal investment, and assessment of impact. The guides also include real life case studies for context and inspiration, and harness technologies such as mobile phones and the internet to pilot new forms of communication.
