Chief Executive of Standard Chartered, Mr Peter Sands, has pledged his annual bonus of roughly £ 2 M to charity. Mr Sands’ decision has been made in spite of the fact that Standard Chartered have received no taxpayer support, have no UK operations and are posting record profits for a third consecutive year. Itself a client of TSIC, Standard Chartered have a progressive attitude towards charitable giving - an attitude that evidently permeates the whole firm, including its most senior members. Mr Sands’ decision comes days after HSBC boss Mr Geoghegan pledged his £ 4 M bonus to a variety of children’s charities, and Stephen Hester and Eric Daniels - chief executives of RBS and Lloyds Banking Group respectively - have turned down their bonuses.
