More MPs With Third Sector Backgrounds

With a new parliament just around the corner it is looking likely that there will be more MPs than ever before with a third sector background. The Guardian has researched the top 100 marginal seats in the country and found that more than a quarter of Labour candidates have worked in the third sector, 13% of Tories, and about 10% of Lib Dem candidates. Nowhere is this reflected more than in the Bristol North West constituency where all three major party candidates have experience in charities. The Guardian discusses this West Country battle in more detail and highlights the reasons for the influx of third sector experience into politics.
