A poll of 1000 people conducted by Research organisation nfpSynergy highlighted differences in public attitudes towards small charities as opposed to larger ones. The results showed that the public think small charities are less wasteful, more trustworthy, friendlier and closer to those they help. Confusingly, the public also consider small charities to be more amateurish and less professional. As Cath Lee of the Small Charities Coalition notes, the results are surprising since ‘most small charities don’t have the time or money to address public perceptions of them.’
