The current financial crisis is unchartered territory and for those third sector organisations that receive philanthropic donations, there is an inevitable concern as to what the future holds. The reassuring news comes from a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, which suggests a consensus that the “ultra” wealthy will continue to give in the aftermath of the crisis. The caveat is that it will come with a greater focus on the effects of that giving, as they call for improved accountability in the charity sector. Eleven ultra new worth individuals were surveyed - individuals with over $30m of investable assets - along with thirteen wealth experts from around the world. The findings echo the latest research commissioned by TSIC, which found high net worth individuals are keener than ever to see their donations driving income in the charity sector.
