Development charity WAR on Want is renewing its campaign for Tobin tax, after Prime Minister Gordon Brown called for tax to be placed on global financial transactions at the G20 meeting. Named after the economist James Tobin, the idea is that currency exchange transactions are taxed and the income generated could be used for tackling worldwide issues such as poverty and climate change.
