We help organisations create a sustainable future through moving away from traditional fundraising to an inclusive revenue generation model. Charities Unlocked is our original methodology to help charities build successful businesses out of what they are best at. We work to analyse the various strengths, assets and resources of an organisation and then map those against commercial market opportunities. Once commercial opportunities are identified, we then support organisations to undertake market research, business and operational planning to launch new trading activities successfully.
Relate is the UK’s largest provider of relationship support, working with upwards of 150,000 people a year. TSIC was appointed by Relate to support the charity in generating and testing new income generation ideas. Working closely with Relate’s leadership team, TSIC helped Relate move from a long-list of over 20 ideas to preparing to pursue two which present the most viable commercial opportunities. TSIC then delivered a full business plan for the two ideas, one which involves a kitemark leveraging the charity’s brand, and legal assessment of how to structure the trading activity.
Other organisations look to create a sustainable future through moving away from grants to social investment. We help organisations raise social investment through exploring various opportunities for earning income, whether developing new trading activities as mentioned above or through fee-paying service models, or tendering for contracts. We offer a complete service spanning ideas generation, testing of ideas and products, market research, business and financial planning, and operational planning for implementation.
Student Hubs is a national charity that aims to empower university students to shape a better world. It currently works in 10 universities, reaching more than 30,000 students annually. Through Big Potential, TSIC supported Student Hubs to secure social investment from a prominent social investor. TSIC conducted a feasibility study to establish key areas of expansion to include the profile of universities, departments and individuals who were most likely to commission their services. The business plan will likely to take them to national coverage and financial sustainability.
