Tell us a bit about yourself

As a second generation British-Pakistani immigrant, mine and my families lived experience shaped my sense of social justice and impact. These experiences encouraged me to pursue my undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Politics where I was introduced to and became very interested in concepts such as decolonisation and ‘post’ colonialism. In my degree, I was taught to understand how historical occurrences can often dictate the treatment of marginalised communities and individuals in modern society. From this, I participated in the ParliaMentors leadership programme, where I helped facilitate workshops to schools across the North West educating school children on media bias and the depiction of migrants in the media. My interest in social justice, migration and decolonisation motivated me to pursue a masters in Global Migration. My thesis focused on understanding sense of belonging amongst 2nd generation British- Pakistanis and it highlighted the impact both schools and workplaces play in affecting one’s sense of belonging in wider society, this emphasised the importance of DEI initiatives.

Why did you choose to work with TSIC?

I chose to work at TSIC as working for an organisation that has a positive and mensurable impact on society is something that is very important to me. TSIC’s values of impact over profit, diversity and inclusion resonated with me and my personal values.

What are you most looking forward to?

I am really excited for the opportunity to delve into varied projects and be part of an organisation that values constant and continuous learning and development. I’m looking forward to work in a diverse team, gain a greater understanding of the social sector, and deepen and improve my research and analysis skills.
