Welcoming TSIC’s new Senior Advisor on Impact Investing & DEI, Jana Bakunina

Tell us a bit about yourself

I’m an economist by background. My career was initially focussed on corporate finance in investment banking and in the media, before I explored some more entrepreneurial pursuits such as launching Ladies Who Impress, a community and a series of live events celebrating inspiring women from all works of life, and co-founding a venture capital investment office, backing women, non-white and LGBT entrepreneurs. I’m also the author of two books: a memoir, Bird’s Milk and a collection of short stories, Stories by a Russian Londoner.

Why did you choose to work with TSIC?

I became increasingly interested in the impact space and thanks to TSIC, I am discovering how passionate people innovate and work together to bring about systemic change in the world we live in. I want to play my part in that change.

What are you most looking forward to?

Learning and development – impact investing and policymaking is a complex and challenging field. I would like to understand and master it before helping to make it more accessible in the mainstream. This is how we affect systemic change.
