Dr Bijayashree Satpathy

India Director

Dr Bijayashree Satpathy is the founder and director of Agzistence Intelligence Private Limited, which is a leading provider of bespoke learning programs for all the stakeholders in the agribusiness ecosystem on a collaborative digital platform for upskilling and cross-learning. She aspires to make a social impact among the influencers, who influences the decision-making of the populace at the bottom of the pyramid. In her journey to make an impact among the masses and society at a large in terms of diversity, equity and inclusion she has joined hands with The Social Investment Consultancy (TSIC). Presently, she is the director of TSIC – India and working towards the vision to maximize the social impact across the sectors.

Dr Bijayashree is a trained social scientist and holds PhD from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Her research focused on environmental governance in a rural setting. She has completed her postdoctoral at the Albert Hirschman Centre for Democracy in the Graduate Institute of International and Developmental Studies in Geneva. She is a member of the International Association for Study of the Commons, the Indian Sociological Society and the Indian Society for Ecological Economics. She has published her research work in various national and international peer-reviewed journals. She has also worked with national-level NGOs and international organisations like CIMMYT – International Maize and Wheat Improvement centre. She has taught multidisciplinary courses at various universities in India. She has extensive fieldwork experience in the remotest area inside the forest, in the lower part of the Himalayas, in the intensive mining areas and in many regressive regions in India. Over the years her research experiences helped her to stay close to the rural communities and understand their lives and livelihood. Her gradual sensitization and in-depth understanding motivate her to build Agzistence and simultaneously work with TSIC to create impact on the lives of millions.
