Joel Koh 

Principal Consultant

Joel is a social impact consultant in the areas of research, impact evaluation, and impact articulation and has spent the last 8 years working in different areas of the social impact space, ranging from academia, non-profit research and an evidence intermediary. He is currently the Principal Consultant of TSIC ASEAN with the intent to further the practice of impact measurement and articulation in the region.

Starting his career as a researcher he has delivered a number of projects in the fields of Public Health, Community Development, early childhood development, employment and the non-profit sector. Recently, he had conducted research to learn more about the needs and preferences of young people with regard to Mental Health Support to inform funding decisions for the Majurity Trust. He has also conducted numerous evaluations for both government and philanthropic partners, these range from rigorous multi-year evaluations, to pragmatic evaluations to articulate the impact of a fund or funder. He had also co-developed a chapter on “Evaluating” for Asia Philanthropy Circle in their book, A Philanthropist’s Guide to Giving.

In addition to this, he is experienced in co-developing Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) frameworks, he has worked with clients to support the work of impact articulation and has led or supported several international and regional organisations to develop and implement their own MEL frameworks across complex portfolios of work. Some of these clients include Atlassian Foundation (Global), YTL Foundation (Asia), NCSS President’s Challenge-Empowering for Life Fund (Government), and Yayasan MENDAKI (Service provider).

Joel holds a Bachelor of Social Science in Geography (with Second Upper Class Honours) from the National University of Singapore, and a Masters in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics. Joel is currently based in Singapore.
