Yu-Shan has conducted 40+ monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) projects with clients tackling issues such as poverty, structural inequity, community development and arts and culture. Her clients include EMpower, Comic Relief, Trust for London and data.org – Democratising data, for good. She is well-versed in mixed-method evaluation and specialised in applying an equitable lens to evaluation, using methods such as equitable evaluation, people-centred evaluation, anti-racist evaluation and participatory approaches.
She also supports many impact investors with embedding diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) into their investment strategy and process. She has undertaken strategic reviews for impact investors and developed sector-wide resources with the Equality Impact Investing Project. She is interested in how blended finance can better harness social justice.
Before joining TSIC, she worked in management consulting at KPMG, advising social enterprises on business strategy, corporate partnership and organisational design. She led KPMG Singapore’s first social innovation project.
Her experience and education have enabled her to attain a diversified skill set. She holds an MSc in Management with a specialisation in finance from Imperial College London (distinction) and a BA in Foreign Languages and Literatures with a minor in sustainability development from National Taiwan University. She was also a scholar with McKinsey & Company.
She has worked on projects in Europe, East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. She also has experience working in a start-up accelerator, an education charity and a sustainability business. In her leisure time, you can find her hiking out in nature, cooking vegan cuisines, and learning circus arts.
